Heat data: Verified · PepperScale

The Peter Pepper is a rare heirloom Capsicum annuum variety best known for its distinctively phallic shape — a wrinkled pod with a rounded, cleft tip that grows 7–10 cm long and ripens from green to bright red. Most commonly grown in East Texas and Louisiana, it was popularized by Dallas journalist Frank X. Tolbert and has since been studied at the University of Texas and Louisiana State University. Its flavor is fruity and mildly sweet with a clean, medium heat comparable to a serrano.
