Heat data: Verified · Wikipedia

The Trinidad Scorpion originates from the Moruga district of Trinidad and Tobago and is one of the most intensely hot peppers ever recorded, named the world's hottest pepper in 2012 by New Mexico State University's Chile Pepper Institute. The pods are wrinkled and tapered to a distinctive stinger-like point, ripening from green to red. Despite extraordinary heat, they carry a fruity, floral undertone characteristic of Capsicum chinense that is valued in premium hot sauces.
