Cayenne is a long, slender Capsicum annuum that ripens from green to bright red, typically growing 10–15 cm in length and under 1.5 cm wide. The pepper has a clean, sharp heat and is most widely consumed dried and ground into cayenne powder, a pantry staple in Creole, Cajun, and many global cuisines.
